Clean City is a mobile app and social network for citizenship that is transparent and open to all cities world wide. With the collaborative management of cities through a model that creates engagement between citizens and governments, it seeks to make cities better and more livable.The goal of the app is to make citizens committed and responsible for the development and cleanliness of their city through small positive actions that generate massive impact. For instance, through reporting an overflowing waste bin, or a problem on the roads, or lighting issues, or through creating events to clean the beach, among other issues that concern the public.Once the complaints are received, Clean City reaches out to the responsible authorities, and local associations, and shares it throughout its community to accelerate the process of resolution.When the problem is resolved , the citizen that reported the issue is sent a message updating him/ her. The concerned autorities are commended via the app and web site and within the community over a 48-hour duration to create a good relationship between citizens and governments. Clean city allows citizens to join a program in sorting garbage and waste at source in their homes, in collaboration with collection and recycling companies.The platform is based on a gamification model: every time the citizen participates in a community initaitive, he/ she wins a number of points that can be redeemed for gifts, such as cinema tickets or coffee, to motivate them to replicate these positive actions for greater impact.
